The actor begins filming for the 'Walking Dead' sister show this week.
Fans finally know the identity of the character who'll be part of one of the biggest events in 'Walking Dead' history, as it was announced on this week's edition of 'Talking Dead' that Lennie James' character, Morgan Jones would be stepping back in time to star in AMC series 'Fear The Walking Dead'.
Lennie James with Andrew Lincoln on the set of 'The Walking Dead' season 6
The announcement came after weeks of speculation by fans, with many thinking that Michael Cudlitz's character Abraham would be the one to star in 'Fear', after his life was taken in the season 7 premiere of 'The Walking Dead' by the series' current big bad, Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).
In fact, Morgan wasn't one of the frontrunners at all in the run up to the reveal, but many are now convinced that his movement over to 'Fear' could be one of the best decisions bosses on the shows could have made. He's an extremely complex character who has been through a lot, so to see a whole new chapter of the journey that turned him into the man we see on 'The Walking Dead' will hopefully be compelling and addictive viewing.
Now the question concerning the crossover is not who will be involved, but how. James has been confirmed as a series regular for 'Fear', so does that mean his time on original show 'TWD' is coming to a close? That's quite likely. James even said during the episode of 'Talking Dead': "The hardest part of it from beginning until now has been leaving 'The Walking Dead'. -leaving that cast and leaving that crew. And I've said my goodbyes to the cast and stuff, and I've said my goodbyes to the crew."
Those comments came before the show's host Chris Hardwick read out a note from showrunner Scott Gimple, which stated Morgan "still has a lot of story left" on 'TWD', but that his arc this year "positioned him for the story on 'Fear'". We can't wait to see what's going to happen.
