Hollywood superstar Leonardo Dicaprio has donated a portion of the £34.1million raised at his star-studded charity gala to the victims and families of victims of the tragic terrorist Nice attack last week.

The Wolf of Wall Street actor hosted his bash in St Tropez on Wednesday (20 July) and a number of top prizes were auctioned off at the event which was dripping with famous faces.

Prizes included a night with Leonardo at the Men’s U.S Open tennis final, a personal acting performance by Kevin Spacey and art from the likes of Damien Hirst.

All proceeds went into the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation (LDF) which go towards funding conservation projects across the world.

However, a proportion of the money went to those affected by the terrible Nice attack, which saw 84 people killed when a lorry was driven at full speed into a crowd celebrating Bastille Day.

Stars at the event included Cate Blanchett, Scarlett Johansson, Toby Maguire and Robert De Nero.

The 41-year-old Oscar winner said: "We are the first generation that has the technology, the scientific knowledge and the global will to build a truly sustainable economic future for all of humanity, we are the last generation that has a chance to stop climate change before it is too late."
