‘The Revenant’ star was also offered the chance to play Spider-Man and Batman’s sidekick Robin.
Since skyrocketing to stardom with Titanic, Leonardo Dicaprio has had his pick of high profile film roles. But what’s just as interesting are the parts which the actor has turned down for example, could you imagine Leo as Anakin Skywalker?
Leonardo DiCaprio once turned down the role of Anakin Skywalker.
In an interview with Shortlist magazine, DiCaprio confirmed that he had meet with George Lucas back in 2002 to discuss taking the role of Anakin in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, which eventually went to Hayden Christensen.
“I did have a meeting with George Lucas about that, yes,” DiCaprio said. “I just didn’t feel ready to take that dive. At that point.” But Anakin Skywalker isn’t the only high-profile role Leo has said no to, he also turned down playing Robin in 1995’s Batman Forever.

“I never screen-tested (for the part of Robin). I had a meeting with Joel Schumacher. It was just one meeting and, no, I didn’t end up doing it,” DiCaprio explained. When asked if he actually wanted the part, the actor added: “I don’t think I did, no.”
“As I recall I took the meeting, but didn’t want to play the role. Joel Schumacher is a very talented director but I don’t think I was ready for anything like that.” DiCaprio also turned down the chance to play Spider-Man, a part that eventually went to his friend Toby Maguire.

“That was another one of those situations, similar to Robin, where I didn’t feel ready to put on that suit yet. They got in touch with me,” he explained. But as to wether or not one day DiCaprio might play a superhero, he’s not ruling it out.
“You never know, you never know,” DiCaprio said. “They’re getting better and better as far as complex characters in these movies. I haven’t yet. But no, I don’t rule out anything.”
