Liam Neeson is to star in 'Ted 2.'

The 62-year-old actor has landed a starring role in Seth Macfarlane's comedy sequel, which follows the adventures of John Bennett (Mark Wahlberg) and his living brown bear, Ted (MacFarlane).

The 40-year-old director-turned-producer announced the news on his Twitter account last night (24.09.14), by tweeting: ''Yesterday Liam Neeson, today Morgan Freeman. Not a bad week for #Ted2. (sic).''

Freeman, 77, will reportedly play a civil rights lawyer in the movie and, although plot details are being kept tightly underwraps, it is thought his character will step in to help the foul-mouthed bear when he finds himself in a spot of legal trouble mid-way through the film.

MacFarlane, who is writing, directing and starring in the movie, wanted high-profile actors to join the sequel and had his eye on a number of stars from the beginning.

'Ted 2', which is being released by Universal Pictures, is expected to star the majority of the original supporting cast, as well as Amanda Seyfried, who will perform a stunning medley in the sequel.

Bosses are also trying to convince Kim Kardashian West, 33, to take on a cameo role in the film.

Meanwhile, the upcoming movie has already gone into production and will hit cinemas on June 26, 2015 in the US and on July 10, 2015 in the UK.
