Rising British singer Lianne La Havas is eyeing a duet with Prince after the Purple Rain icon phoned her and declared himself a fan of her music.
The 22-year-old soul star was stunned after receiving a phone call from Prince, who invited her to the U.S. for a jam session.
She says, "He called me one day, literally phoned me up... He's got a very, deep gravelly voice. He said that he liked my music and I said, 'I like yours too!' and then we just talked about other stuff that we both like listening to, the songwriting process, guitar playing, all kinds of things."
La Havas admits she was thrilled to visit the superstar at his Paisley Park recording complex in Minnesota, and hopes their newfound friendship will one day lead to a collaboration.
She adds, "He invited me to come to Paisley Park and just hang out, we ended up playing guitar together. He gave me a small bass lesson as well - he got on the drums while I was on the bass... We jammed!... The studio is a fairytale, ginormous place, and it's beautiful inside. Smells like scented candles.
"We didn't record anything, though. I hope (we will). I'm just putting it out there, I want to do that. Let's see what happens."
