Lil Wayne graces the cover of GQ's upcoming 'Music Issue' and speaks candidly about his time on drugs and his biological father. The Young Money star released his latest album Tha Carter IV in August, which sold 964,000 copies in its first week and topped the Billboard 200 chart.
The rapper has often spoken openly of his marijuana usage, and was rumoured to regularly take codeine cough syrup. In 2008, he was arrested in Arizona on drug charges when authorities searched his tour bus and, according to ABC News, discovered 105 grams of marijuana, 29 grams of cocaine, 41 grams of ecstasy and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia. Wayne is now said to be drug free, but told GQ, "I drank syrup and smoked a lotta weed. I wish I could be back on it. That's how it f*cking feels. How does it feel to be sober? I'll be like, It feels f*cked-up.' What you want me to say? 'It feels great'? No". The rapper refers to marijuana as "something that the doctor prescribed", having previously stated he suffers from migraines. When discussing his biological father, the rapper bluntly explained, "He don't give a sh*t about me. And I don't give a sh*t about him".
Tha Carter IV is the follow-up to Weezy's 2010 record 'I Am Not a Human Being', released while he served a prison sentence at Rikers Island for illegal possession of a weapon.
