Since Lily Allen had already stated several years ago that she has had issues with alcohol abuse, the British singer was more than annoyed when several reports surfaced on Tuesday (Dec 8th), claiming that she was "giving up alcohol" in order to "grow up."

Allen fired back at reports that claimed she recently gave up alcohol to "grow up"

In one alleged false report, she was quoted at the British Fashion Awards apparently saying, "I'm sober tonight. In fact, I haven't had a drink for a month. It's been hard not drinking, but I'm trying to grow up. Finally."

However, shortly after being published, Allen took to Twitter to blast these allegations and set the record straight.

"Let's give up social media and the Mail Online. It's killing me. That is all," she initially tweeted, before adding, "I feel like we're not evolved enough to handle the Internet, psychologically. I preferred real records and newspapers with news in them."

The outspoken songstress didn't stop there.

"Everything was just better and nicer. We were nicer. And I wouldn't be here," she wrote, before replying to a fan with, "Behaviour is learned. Hatred is more accessible than ever, and people think it's OK to be horrible to each other as a result...Might sell my Twitter now."

Allen's problems with alcohol abuse date back to 2008 when she told to U.K.'s Observer Music Monthly that she plans on taking a break from drinking for a while.

"I've become a character in a comic.and that character is always drunk! I wish my comic character wasn't that," she said. "I have no intention of taking drugs again at the moment. But I can't say, 'Never again,' because I don't know where I'll be in 10 years' time. And I will definitely drink in the future, just not for a while."
