Lily Allen’s ‘Sheezus’ might be a subtle nod to Kanye West, but it’s a full-blown dedication to the late Amy Winehouse, whom Allen displays great warmth and respect for in a recent interview with The Telegraph.

Explaining that "[Amy] was too damn interesting for her own good," Allen explains that her third studio album is a dedication to the late singer, and that while she didn’t know her like a close friend, she certainly new “a version” of her before her tragic death.

“She was not in a great place when we knew each other, so I don’t feel I knew Amy; I knew a version of Amy,” explained Allen in her interview. “What she had to deal with was 10 times anything I had to deal with. She’d sold a hell of a lot more albums than me, and there was a lot more interest in her.”

She added: "There were people outside her home 24 hours a day, seven days a week. I know what that was like on a much smaller level, and I felt trapped. "She couldn’t do anything or go anywhere without there being a frenzy; and she was all about life and enjoying herself and socialising, and when that’s taken away from you… she was a prisoner.”

Lily Allen’s third album comes after a hiatus that saw her give birth to her two daughters. Since her return, Allen has been forthright with her views on feminism in the U.K, denouncing traditional versions of feminism and professing her allegiance to a modern brand of feminism, which, ironically, contains many aspects of traditional sexism.
