The much-lauded actor Lin-Manuel Miranda has announced his final performance of the smash hit musical ‘Hamilton’ as July 9th.

The Hollywood Reporter claims that Miranda, who created and stars in the smash Broadway production, will be giving his final turn in the lead role of former president Alexander Hamilton at the same time as many cast members see their contracts expire, less than a month after the Tony Awards.

The 36 year old actor, rapper and composer wrote the score for the musical, which opened in January 2015 and has won rave reviews ever since. It received a record-breaking 16 nominations at the upcoming Tony Awards, which take place on June 12th, for which he is personally nominated for three.

Miranda’s representative has not officially confirmed the departure, simply saying: “There is nothing to confirm at this time.” Unofficially, Miranda is said to have told close friends that he’s leaving to pursue other projects.

The news is not surprising for industry insiders, who have noted the large amount of projects for Miranda is now signed up for in the wake of ‘Hamilton’s stunning success.

He’s due to play the role of a streetlighter named Jack alongside Emily Blunt in the forthcoming Disney project Mary Poppins Returns, and the Weinstein Co. recently secured movie rights for an adaptation of Miranda’s first Broadway project ‘In the Heights’. He’ll also be scoring another Disney film, Moana, which will be out in cinemas this November.

It seems Miranda has enjoyed the new-found massive stardom as a result of ‘Hamilton’, with President Obama and his family declaring themselves as fans and going to see the production on more than one occasion.

“It was really very surreal,” Miranda told People about how he reacted to the First Family seeing the show. “This journey started at the president's house: The first time I'd presented any music for ‘Hamilton’ was when I was invited to perform at the White House in 2009, and that video has been seen millions of times.”
