It's true that Lin-Manuel Miranda is yet to become a world-renowned name, and yet he's a superstar on Broadway with his 11-time Tony winning musical 'Hamilton'. And he proved just how much of a star he is when he hosted 'Saturday Night Live' at the weekend.

Miranda opened his 'SNL' show with a parody of the 'Hamilton' song 'My Shot', in which he alluded to the relevance of the American political conflicts of the 1700s explored in the musical compared with the impending presidential fight between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. He sure made it clear whose side he was on though when he came across Trump's picture in the SNL Hall of Fame.

'Tonight I'm finally earning my spot on this wall in this hall and I'm getting a piece of it. Miley, Schumer, Tracy Morgan and this piece of-' he rapped cheekily, before breaking into a brief round of 'Never Gonna Be President Now'.

They elaborated on the presidential topic with a news report sketch featuring Alec Baldwin FLAWLESSLY portraying Donald Trump. It referenced the recently emerged audio of Donald Trump making lewd and sexist comments about women to Billy Bush in 2005.

Lin-Manuel Miranda got to get involved in some sketches of his own too, namely a hilarious parody of 'Stranger Things' in which they addressed the mystery of Lucas Sinclair's apparently absent parents. Miranda effected a lisp as the lovable Dustin, while Kenan Thompson and Leslie Jones played Lucas' no-nonsense parents trying to get their son to stop going on about the Upside Down and come home. Momma Sinclair proved too scary for even Eleven, but as soon as the police officer shows up, she and Mr Sinclair know that's the real thing to be afraid of, informing their son that because of the colour of their skin, life is dangerous enough without the Upside Down.
