The actress has battled polio and a series of career hurdles but insists life is the best it has ever been now she's in her 60s - and she hits the streets every day to say thanks.

She explains, "I just walk outside. I love to be outside, I don't like gyms... From the time I had polio, I'm very grateful for my legs... and grateful for my life, the fact I can walk.

"(I'm grateful) for little things that are so important to me."

And she admits the shock of losing her younger sister to breast cancer when she was in her late 40s really helped her focus on what was important.

Gray tells U.S. news show Access Hollywood Live, "That turned my life around because I realised the fragility of life and how quick it comes and goes... I thought, 'Oh, pay attention. Be grateful'."
