The Lohan's are suing the TV channel after a Fox News commentator said that the mother and daughter have been snorting lines of cocaine together during a discussion about celebrities dying of drug overdoses.
Lindsay Lohan's hard-partying lifestyle has often attracted a lot media attention over the past several years, but when her family is brought into the spotlight, the 28-year-old actress shows that she even has her limits.
Lindsay and her mom, Dina, are suing Fox News
On Monday (Feb 2nd) Lohan and her mother Dina issued a lawsuit against Fox news for deformation after a guest on the Sean Hannity show accused the mother and daughter of snorting lines of cocaine together.
The remarks in question were made by Michelle Fields, a commentator on the News Channel's show, last February - two days after Philip Seymour Hoffman died in Manhattan of a heroin overdose in a discussion about celebrities killing themselves from drug overdoses.

During a segment called 'Early Train Wrecks and Tragedy About to Happen,' Fields said "Lindsay Lohan's mom is doing cocaine with her."
The lawsuit, which was filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, states that Fields "falsely, inappropriately and shockingly stated, unequivocally and as a 'matter of fact' that 'Lindsay Lohan's mother is doing cocaine with her.'"
"...Fields made the false, defamatory, heartless, derogatory comment in the context of the show's topic... (It) was a direct smear on the character/reputation of (the Lohans) ... (and it) was a totally irresponsible and malicious innuendo ... (that) Lindsay Lohan might become the next celebrity to join the obituary list," the papers say, according to the New York Daily News.

At the time, the 'Mean Girls' actress' attorneys also sent Roger Ailes, chairman and chief executive of Fox News, at the channel's Manhattan headquarters, a letter that described Fields' comment as "outrageously slanderous and defamatory".
It is unknown if Fox News responded to the letter, and the TV channel has yet to comment on the Lohan's lawsuit.
