Her much-publicised drink and drug-fuelled behaviour dominated most of her life in her teens and twenties, but Lindsay Lohan says she is unable to truly have any regrets about her past as she turns 30 – although she is looking forward to her next ten years with a positive attitude.

The former child actor and Parent Trap star turns 30 on Saturday (July 2nd), and was interviewed by Vanity Fair in a candid feature published this week. In it, the now-sober star looked back on her wild-child, headline-grabbing behaviour in her early twenties that landed her in trouble for years.

“I wouldn't call things regrets, per se. I can’t turn back time,” she reflected. “But if I could, I would have listened more to my mother and gone back home to N.Y.C. earlier in life and chosen my friends more wisely.”

In 2013, Lohan returned to the East Coast from L.A. in order to be nearer her family in Long Island, New York. She filmed her own docuseries, ‘Lindsay’, which addressed her struggles to get clean and seek rehab for alcohol addiction.

She’s keen to help others get through similar struggles, and is writing a lifestyle book that will double up as a memoir of sorts. “I am in the process of writing a book, and I am very excited to share my personal experiences in life and how to overcome obstacles,” she said. “I hope that my words will connect with those who need some guidance when [or] if they are in a tough place.”

Last year, she finally got clear of the court probation that had been hanging over her since her first DUI convictions back in 2007. She’s since gotten engaged to her boyfriend Egor Tarabasov, the heir to a Russian business billionaire, whom she met in late 2015.

In the spirit of settling down, she’s looking for a great deal more stability in the future. Her plans for the immediate future include: “making more films, writing my book, starting my charity, working with children a lot. Maybe having some of my own soon - after I get some movies done, first.”
