Oprah Winfrey: The Next Chapter, the highly anticipated interview of Lindsay Lohan by the media mogul aired last night on OWN.

The occasion marks Lohan's first post-rehab in-depth interview and it certainly seems Winfrey hit a few nerves. Lohan was mostly tearful throughout the interview with Winfrey asking questions on addiction, family life and her time in rehab and prison.

Winfrey asked Lohan if she considered herself an addict, which she admitted to. Lohan said alcohol was her drug of choice. She continued by saying alcohol "was a gateway to other things for me." The 27-year-old admitted to taking cocaine around 10-15 times in her life, primarily because "it allowed me to drink more."

Winfrey delved into Lohan's family life and queried how her addiction began. She described her family home as being "chaotic" and inconsistent: that situations would jump from "perfect" to "uncontrollable". She says her addiction resulted from delaying to face her childhood issues. She went on to say that she always assumed, owing to her upbringing, that "it was a comfortable chaos" and she'd continued to live her life in the same way. Lohan claimed this was an addiction in itself.

Lohan also discussed her time in jail in 2011. She believed she deliberately sought out trouble in order to "find some peace and just have no choice but to just sit and be." She used it as an example how she has truly decided to change her ways, claiming that now she is prepared to accept going through the rehabilitation process.

She claims that her decision to enter and focus rehab, despite being court order, was due to her "craving more spirituality."

It appears to be working so far and Lohan is optimistic about the future, wishing to return to when she was "happiest", which is when she's "working hard". She also wants to prove to herself that she can change and "regain the trust of people in my career that have their doubts." She also recognises the difficulties of remaining in the public eye, especially concerning the comments many will make. On this The Canyons actress said "it's open season for people to say what they're gonna say. I can't control that but I can control not putting myself there."

Good Luck Lindsay!
