Lindsay Lohan turned down a Burger King commercial.

The 'Mean Girls' star - who has been in rehab six times - was approached by the fast food chain regarding an advert in which she would wear a Spicy Chicken Fries box and smoke a chicken fly as if it were a cigarette, but she shunned the offer because it poked fun at her troubled past.

An insider said: ''We were gob-smacked. It was making fun of her issues.''

In the commercial, the 29-year-old actress - who celebrated her birthday last week - was also set to reel off a ''spicy'' monologue promoting the chain, although no deal was ever reached.

However, a separate source said it was actually Burger King which eventually rejected the star because her and her managers at Untitled Talent wanted to make so many changes to the planned clip.

They said: ''She wanted creative control.

''[Burger King reps said she could] Forget about it.''

Meanwhile, the fiery-haired beauty - who recently ended seven years of probation - is currently living in London where she's writing a book and working on her Lavish Alice fashion line, even though she's ''broke''.

A source told the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column: ''She's broke, sleeping at different guys' apartments, but she thinks she's Elizabeth Taylor.''
