The 28-year-old actress checked into King Edward VII's Hospital with a high fever and joint pain, TMZ first reported, but as of Wednesday afternoon (Jan 21st) her fever had subsided sufficiently enough to be released.

"She could hardly stand up, she was in so much pain," a source close to the 'Mean Girls' star told the New York Daily News before she was discharged. "But she's in a great hospital now. It's the one recommended by the queen."

Not long after returning from her vacation, Lohan revealed via social media that she contracted Chikungunya, a virus which is transmitted through mosquito bites.

"She was getting better, but with all the traveling, it wore her down, so the virus acted up again. It was like a relapse," the source told the newspaper.

The virus, which is said to cause fever, joint paint, fatigue and a rash and has no cure, with the symptoms lasting for up to a month, is only treated with medicines to reduce fevers and pain. Many sufferers recover within a week, but some may develop long-lasting joint pain.
