Mariah Carey got a surprise when she performed her latest show at New York City’s Beacon Theater this weekend, with none other than Beyonce going backstage to meet her – where the pair took a rare selfie.

“I love you @Beyonce thank you sooooo much for coming out tonight,” the ‘Mariah’s World’ star excitedly shared via Instagram on Sunday night (December 11th).

Lionel Richie jested today that he contacted Adele’s lawyers having heard her latest single, trying to copyright the phrase ‘Hello’.

The 66 year old singer, who recently announced a massive UK tour following his successful appearance at Glastonbury Festival earlier this year, spoke to The Sun and, with tongue firmly in cheek, remarked that he contacted lawyers to figure out whether he might have a case. No, unsurprisingly, came the answer.

Lionel Richie just keeps the surprises coming! Not only have UK fans got a set of shows in London and Manchester to look forward to, but he's also added six more dates to his 2016 roster and even confirmed that he'll be teaming up with Adele in the near future on a new project.

Both Richie and Adele are pretty much the winners when it comes to popularity in 2015, so this combination is proving to be a very exciting one amongst fans indeed. A suggestion for a collaboration first arose when a mash-up of the video for Lionel Richie's song 'Hello' with the one for Adele's hit single of the same name surfaced on the internet, much to their amusement.

Richie hit the road for the first time in more than a decade in 2013, taking his 'All the Hits All Night Long' tour across North America to much success. It was no wonder the crooner attracted such a crowd when he visited the UK this year, then, his tour culminating on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival 2015 with an audience of more than 100,000.

Whoever was in charge of the captioning at last night's BET Awards should hang their head in shame after they misspelled the name of the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award, Lionel Richie. During the televised coverage of the Black Entertainment Television Awards on Sunday night (29th June), which was watched by millions around the world, the broadcasting team managed to spell Richie's surname as "Ritchie."

Sure, plenty of worse things could have happened, but it's still a pretty embarrassing move considering Richie was practically the guest of honor at the bash. To make matters worse, the mistake flashed on the screen in large lettering as the 65 year-old soul star headed to collect his prize.

Soon the hashtag "#lionelritchie" began trending on Twitter as viewers picked up on the blunder and quickly spread the news leading to embarrassment for the show's production team.

BET Awards weekend started with a tragedy this year, when a guest at Meek Mill’s pre-awards party ended up in hospital with stab wounds. The incident took place on Saturday night, June 28,  at Lure nightclub. Meek Mill was hosting a rousing pre-BET bash, when a fight broke out. The 20-something man was rushed to Cedars-Sinai hospital, but TMZ has obtained footage of him laying on the curb waiting for help while a friend yells at the police officers to hurry the ambulance.

Meek Mill himself was not directly involved in the brawl.

The man incurred two stab wounds in the stomach, but his condition is stable, the website also reports. The reason for the fight has not been uncovered so far. The man’s identity and that of his attacker are being withheld. The party was also attended by The Game, Lil Boosie, Mase and actress Kyla Pratt.

Lionel Richie has been tapped to perform during the annual award show, as well as being this year’s Lifetime Achievement honoree. His music has changed the face of soul and R&B, but Richie frequently crosses genre lines to experiment with pop, soft rock and even country.

The Voice might just be taking cues from American Idol and is changing its lineup. Yesterday judge Cee Lo Green, of Gnarls Barkley fame, announced that he would be departing the NBC competition. For anyone, who’s still enjoying the judge/music producer’s presence, fret not, it sounds like we’re going to be seeing more of him this year. At least that’s what Green told Ellen Degeneres in an interview on Wednesday.

Green making music again could only be a good thing.

"I’m going to continue my relationship with NBC. I have a television show development deal with them as well and hopefully some other talk show opportunities for later in the year," Green told Ellen. "But yeah, I’m going to miss The Voice, too."

Torrential rain showers and thunderstorms as well as some flash flooding has caused the Austin City Limits Music Festival to cancel the final day (Oct 14th). All 75,000 tickets were purchased by fans to attend the last day of the festival.

They will all receive a refund for one third of the cost of their tickets, according to the festivals website.

Austin City Limits Music Festival is set to hit Texas for its twelfth year, bringing with it two weekends of fabulous live music and family fun.

The festival organisers first decided to spread the fun out over two weekends last year, in a bid to welcome yet more people into this unique world, and it appears that they haven't gone back on their word as they are set to return to Zilker Park on October 4th - 6th and 11th - 13th. This year sees some impressive headline acts including Depeche Mode, The Cure, Muse and Kings Of Leon - and if that wasn't exciting enough, Atoms For Peace, Lionel Richie, Phoenix and Wilco are also high up on this year's bill! Some of the other acts scattered around are just as jaw-droppingly impressive, not to mention extremely diverse. We have Californian rockers Queens Of The Stone Age, country star Hank Williams Jr.'s daughter Holly Williams, Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar, LA sisters Haim, alt-folk group Thao & The Get Down Stay Down Nottingham singer Jake Bugg and legendary 'Gay Bar' hitmakers Electric Six.

Hello, is it me you’re looking for? Nope, Lionel Richie thinks that the courts would be wrong to pursue the Jackson family following choreographer Wade Robson’s recent child molestation claims against the late King of Pop, claiming that the accusations are “bogus.”

Wade Robson had actually testified in Jackson’s defense in a 2005 child sex abuse trial, but in a weird twist the choreographer has now launched a claim against the late pop star, saying that he was abused by Jackson over a seven year period. "Michael Jackson was a monster and in their hearts every normal person knows it," Mr Robson's lawyer, Henry Gradstein, said in a statement to a news agency, according to Sky News. He added: "He (Mr Robson) collapsed under the stress and sexual trauma of what had happened to him for seven years as a child. He lived with the brainwashing by a sexual predator until the burden of it all crushed him."

There have been so many claims and rumors about Jackson’s extra-curricular activities over the years, but none have managed to stick, and if you believe Lionel Richie that’s because there isn’t anything to stick on him. TMZ attempted to get a word with the crooner recently about the recent allegations and were dismissed completely. Robson must wait for a judge to decide whether he can pursue his case.

The two-weekend Austin City Limits festival in Texas has announced a varied line-up for this year's bash, with Depeche Mode, The Cure, Kings Of Leon, Muse, Atoms for Peace, Lionel Richie, Phoenix and Wilco on the bill. It will mark a return to the festival for KOL, though both Depeche Mode and The Cure make debuts.

Other notable acts on the bill for the six-day extravaganza - taking place on Oct 4-6 and 11-13 - include Vampire Weekend, D'Angelo, The National, Queens of the Stone Age, Kendrick Lamar, Passion Pit, Grimes and Bon Iver's new project Shouting Matches. Tickets for the festival go on-sale today at 10am at alcfestival.com. For those less concerned with the marquee acts, the Austin City Limits festival appears to offer plenty of interesting options for festivalgoers this year. Portugal. The Man, Grouplove, Jimmy Eat World, The Black Angels, HAIM, Noah and the Whale, Silversun Pickups and The Joy Formidable are also confirmed to play sets.

Last year's festival saw performances from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, The Shins, Weezer, Black Keys, Florence + The Machine, Jack White, Iggy and the Stooges, The Roots and Two Door Cinema Club.

We've all had that moment; looking at photos of our favourite celebs and then jumping out of our seats screaming, 'He's HOW old?!' Well, we've been doing a lot of that here at ContactMusic. Some stars seem to have crept up the age ladder pretty sneakily, the odd wrinkle and grey hair barely registering on our radar, while others don't seem to have aged at all! English football player David Beckham was in his twenties when he rose to global popularity and, looking at his recent H&M underwear advert, it seems that his iconic hairstyles and tattoos are our only way of working out the old from the newer pictures of him. However, he is only 37 and has plenty of time to catch up yet. It's the over-50s that have really had our mouths agape in recent times as we've been scouring the net for the most youthful looking middle to old aged stars.

Lionel Richie was joined on-stage by British pop singer Pixie Lott at his show in London over the weekend. The soul legend - who has been wowing crowds across Europe - sang Angel with Pixie, a song they duetted on for Richie's bestselling Tuskegee record.

The Commodores man also invited X Factor star Rebecca Ferguson to sing with him - the Liverpool vocalist taking the Diana Ross role during 'Endless Love'. According to Music News, Rebecca will join Lionel again in her home town on Saturday November 10, 2012. The superstar will also take to the stage in Manchester, Cardiff, Newcastle, Sheffield, Aberdeen and Glasgow before closing his Tuskegee UK tour at the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham on December 15. 

Richie's latest album was a huge success in the U.S, debuting at No.2 on the Billboard 200 with solid sales of 199,000 - his best sales week since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991. In its third week, Tuskegee sold 129,000 copies to rise to No.1 and become his third chart topping album. It was for a time, the second best-selling album of 2012, behind Adele's all-conquering 21.
