Banks, born Christopher Lloyd twenty four years ago, was raised in the same neighbourhood of New York as fellow G-Unit member and global rap superstar 50 Cent. Since 50's phenomenal rise to fame during 2003, he hasn't forgotten his friends, and fortunately for hip hop fans, as well as being 50's mate, Banks is no slouch when it comes to rhyming. The album is filled with the type of catchy East Coast hooks that G-Unit fans have become accustomed to, coupled with Banks' stand-out-from-the-crowd rhymes that have earned him his reputation.
Critically acclaimed by the underground hip hop scene, Banks was recently nominated for the coveted Mixtape Artist of the Year award at the Mixtape Awards. In 2004 Banks released his debut solo album; The Hunger For More. two years on he's read to release Rotten Apple.
"I can't wait for the streets to get The Rotten Apple," banks says of the new opus which features production by Havoc of Mobb Deep, Timbaland, JR Rotem, as well as guest spots from 50 Cent, Tony Yayo, Young Buck, Mobb Deep, Rakim, 8 Ball and MJG, and Scarface. "'Cause I've put so much into writing this one, it's unbelievable. I've made so many records for this album and cut it down to just the real heat." If that's not money in the Banks, what is?
