Lorde Apologises For Taylor Swift 'Autoimmune Disease' Comment

Lorde Taylor Swift

Lorde has apologised after comparing being friends with fellow pop star Taylor Swift as like being around someone with an autoimmune disease.

The 20 year old New Zealand-born singer, who has just released her second album Melodrama, made the rather strange remark in a profile interview with The Guardian at the weekend. Quickly, she received a backlash from Swift’s fanbase who criticised her for the comments that Lorde now admits were “insensitive” – but she said that she hadn’t been addressing Swift directly.

“It's like having a friend with very specific allergies,” she had told the British newspaper in an article published on Saturday (June 17th).

Jack Antonoff Taylor Swift Lorde Kate Bush

Jack Antonoff hears a ''female voice'' in his head when he writes music.

The 33-year-old singer and songwriter - who is currently dating Lena Dunham - has admitted whenever he sits down to pen a anew track he will hear women play back the song in his head,.

The Bleachers frontman told the Metro newspaper: ''I grew up with only sisters and wen i write, I very much hear things in a female voice. Not to generalise but females are more honest and transparent. There's just a connection there.''

Glastonbury Festival has announced the first tranche of artists to be playing at Worthy Farm this year, confirming 83 acts in addition to the three main headliners of Ed Sheeran, Radiohead and Foo Fighters.

Among the dozens of confirmed acts announced on Thursday (March 30th) are some surprisingly massive names, not least in the shape of pop royalty Katy Perry and Scottish rock titans Biffy Clyro who could expect to headline virtually any other festival in the world.

A large number of music veterans and heroes of yesteryear are also scheduled to make appearances. Former Bee Gee Barry Gibb is set to take the traditional Sunday afternoon ‘legend’ slot, filled by Madness, Lionel Richie and Dolly Parton in the previous three editions of Glastonbury.

Lorde Affects A Miss Havisham Guise For 'Liability' On SNL

Lorde Jack Antonoff Saturday Night Live

Lorde came over all Miss Havisham in her performance for her latest song 'Liability' on 'Saturday Night Live'. The singer is promoting her forthcoming second album 'Melodrama', which is set for release this summer, and gave two live performances on TV over the weekend.

LordeLorde performs 'Liability' on Saturday Night Live

During her performance, she sat back to back with her collaborator Jack Antonoff who was on piano, and she was dressed in a loose white ensemble of a shirt and pants with a ragged looking veil pulled up over her head. She reminded one of the jilted bride Miss Havisham from Charles Dickens' 'Great Expectations' as she grimaced her way through the lyrics about eternal loneliness.

Prepare To Weep Over Lorde's Latest Song 'Liability'

Lorde

Lorde has followed up her first single in three years 'Green Light' with another, more sombre song entitled 'Liability'. It's a heartbreaking little number and another look at the overall tone of her forthcoming second studio album 'Melodrama' which is out this summer.

LordeLorde unveils emotional new song 'Liability'

'Liability' is a stark contrast to what Lorde's used to, not least to its counter-part 'Green Light'. But that's what makes the prospect of 'Melodrama' so exciting. Produced by Jack Antonoff and Frank Dukes, Lorde has been writing songs with both Antonoff and Joel Little for this forthcoming follow-up to her hit debut 'Pure Heroine'.

Our 5 Favourite Feminists, In Honour Of Reese Witherspoon's #AskHerMore Campaign

Reese Witherspoon took to the 2015 Oscars to promote a new feminist campaign #AskHerMore, a movement created to encourage reporters to put more career centric questions to female celebrities on the red carpet, rather than just asking about their designer gowns.

We think we have a new favourite celebrity feminist. If it wasn't enough for Witherspoon to take on such an inspiring feminine role in her latest movie 'Wild'; a film based on the memoirs of Cheryl Strayed, a first time hiker who walked 1,100 miles along the Pacific Crest Trail in a journey of self-discovery; she is now encouraging other actresses and celebrities to want more from their public appearances. The star took to Instagram with a list of questions she hoped to hear as she appeared on the red carpet at the Oscars, including 'What's the biggest risk you've taken that you feel has paid off?' and 'What accomplishment are you most proud of?'.

Diplo Reignites Old Fires As DJ Talks Taylor Swift (And Her Fans) In GQ Interview

Diplo Taylor Swift Lorde Katy Perry

Back in November Diplo, the music producer, DJ and rumoured boyfriend of Katy Perry, tweeted that Taylor Swift needed a kickstarter to help her get ‘a booty’. This distasteful bit of twitter attention seeking caused the singer’s BBF Lorde to retaliate ‘should we do something about your tiny penis while we're at it’ and thus the great Diplo/Lorde/Taylor Swift feud was born. Or actually it wasn't, as nothing really happened after that. Until now that is, when Diplo decided to bring it all up again in an interview with GQ.

DiploDiplo made comments regarding Taylor Swift's 'booty' last year

Addressing Lorde’s tweet Diplo said it was, “funny, because me and Lorde, we're actually friends, and it was a funny, in-jest conversation.” Adding “I think Taylor Swift is such an impactful character, that it was because she was involved that it became really big.”

This Is Not A Drill. Lorde Is Curating The Soundtrack To "Mockingjay - Part I"

Lorde Taylor Swift The Civil Wars Kanye West Lana Del Rey Animal Collective

Ella Yelich-O’Connor, whom you may know better as Lorde, is 17 years old, an outspoken feminist and took the music industry by storm in 2013. It’s hard to think of anyone better suited to curate the soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I. Lionsgate just made the announcement yesterday, so it’s time to get hella excited.

Lorde
We can totally see Lorde in heroine mode, fighting for the districts, by the way.

We can expect Lorde to assemble a full-on HBIC soundtrack – Marina and the Diamonds, some of her contemporary inspirations like Lana Del Rey, Animal Collective, Kanye West, Yeasayer and others, who are all on the list of likely contributors as far as we’re concerned. Lorde’s friend and fellow feminist Taylor Swift created the lead single for the first Hunger Games soundtrack with The Civil Wars, so we’d be surprised, if she didn’t at least contribute a chorus here and there.
