Lorde is treating fans to free tickets and secret gift packages during her homecoming tour of New Zealand.

The 'Royal' singer celebrated her 21st birthday on Tuesday (07.11.17) and she marked the happy occasion by giving a present to her fans in the form of tickets to her Dunedin concert and even a piece of personalised merchandise.

Tweeting a picture of a 'New York Times: Page One' book on a shelf in a local library, she said: ''DUNEDIN: left a little package in the city library behind this book. see you tonight. (sic). ''

Just a few hours later, one very lucky ''super fan'' thanked the star, whose full name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor, for the treat.

the winner excitedly wrote that they had found ''2 tix & a hand drawing on a t shirt by ella (sic)''.

The following day, Lorde has given more fans the chance to win her special treasure hunt ahead of her concert in Christchurch.

She posted a photo of a gorilla statue on a bench, and tweeted: ''CHRISTCHURCH: little package behind this fellow''.

Meanwhile, the singer previously admitted when she released her first LP 'Pure Heroine' at the age of 16 she felt very overwhelmed because she was hailed as the ''teenaged perspective'', a title she felt she was too young to be associated with.

Speaking in the October issue of Vogue Australia, the brunette beauty said: ''People decided I was the teenaged perspective, and I was like: 'Ah, I'm just one kid! I can't be everybody's voice, you know?

''The hard thing was when people would ask me: 'Do you feel 16?' and I'm like: 'I don't know, I've never been 40.' It was really confusing.''
