Liza Minnelli's half-sister was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 and completed chemotherapy treatment in 2013, and now it appears she is taking measures to make sure the disease doesn't return.
Luft has taken to her Facebook page to confirm the latest medical news, writing, "I want to share with you that I have undergone mastectomy surgery and I am recovering well surrounded by family, friends and an outstanding team of doctors and nurses.
"I am especially grateful for the outpouring of love and support I have received from all of you. I am so blessed! Looking forward to a very bright future."
Minnelli and Luft are the daughters of acting legend Judy Garland.
Minnelli is also in recovery after suffering an agonising back injury last year (14). The Cabaret star was hurt in a fall at her home and she spent three months bedridden after undergoing surgery in September.
She has since revealed doctors advised her the condition was so serious she might never be able to dance on stage again.
