Los Campesinos - Sick Scenes Album Review

Ever since their debut album ‘Hold On Now, Youngster...’, Los Campesinos! have been a band like no other. Their energy is unmatched, their exciting songs relatable, and their live performance on another level entirely. It felt like nothing could follow that amazing first album, but now on album number 6, ‘Sick Scenes’, they’re going from strength to strength.

Los Campesinos - Sick Scenes Album Review

‘Sick Scenes’ is everything and more than we expect; the high energy, clever lyrics, plus a bit of confusion on what is actually blasting out in your ears. The album kicks off just how you would expect with ‘Renato Dall Ara (2008)’ which straight away has you hooked. With lyrics like, “He’s a Part-time grass but a Full-time a**hole”, you can’t help but love it.

‘I Broke Up Amarante’ has a slightly different feel to it but still with that familiar sound – though that ‘familiar sound’ in question happens to be entirely unpredictable.

Los Campesinos - By Your Hand

English rockers Los Campesinos! return with a new single, 'By Your Hand'. It is the first single to be taken from their fourth studio album, 'Hello Sadness', which will be released through Wichita Recordings in November 2011.

The original looking video was directed by Cyrus Mirza & Nicolas Botth. Shot in split screen with dash of stop motion animation, we see the band playing their respective instruments to camera alongside visual puns and lead singer Gareth asphyxiating himself. The end result is cheery but ultimately unsettling, in keeping with the tone and theme of the song.

Although the members of Los Campesinos! are English, they all met at Cardiff University in Wales in 2006. The seven piece band grew slowly, starting with Ellen (bass) and Neil (guitar), followed by Tom (lead guitar) and Gareth (vocalist) in 2006; several lineups later, Rob 'Sparky Deathcap' (percussion; keyboard; glockenspiel; additional guitars)and Gareth's sister Kim (keyboards; vocalist) joined in 2009, with their road manager Jason (drums) completing the lineup in 2010.

Los Campesinos! have announced a tour of the UK and the US in November, with an additional date in Tokyo, Japan; the full dates are as follows:
