Disgraced musician Ian Watkins has reportedly just cost a young mother her daughter after she struck up a relationship with him while he was behind bars - despite knowing his sordid criminal history. It's suggested that he even made lude comments to her with regards to her child.

The ex-frontman of Welsh band Lostprophets has allegedly been grooming the 21-year-old mother of a 2-year-old girl after one news outlet revealed that a woman wrote a fan letter to him telling him that there were still people who cared. She apparently believed he was innocent, even visiting him at HM Prison Wakefield - a Category A institution - where it's said he told her he loved her and encouraged her to wear an engagement ring.

Welsh rockers The Lostprophets were shocked at finding out that Ian Watkins was a paedophile, but refuse to be associated with their former bandmate, who confessed to sexually abusing a one-year-old girl and was sentenced to 35 years back in December.

The former bandmates have not performed with Watkins since 2012.

Recently, the case has risen in popularity again as Watkins is about to contest his sentence. On Wednesday, a Cardiff court is to decide whether the musician has grounds for appeal. Watkins is not denying his guilt on 18 counts of attempted rape and sexual assault, sexual assault involving children and taking, making and possessing indecent images of children. However, he thinks that his sentence is too severe and is looking to have his term (29 years in prison and 6 additional years on license) reduced.

At the time of Watkins' sentencing, they released a statement explaining they were entirely unaware of his crimes. Watkins was first arrested and charged in December 2012. It took over a year for Watkins' case to be brought to court and his sentence was carried out last December. He was charged with 13 counts of sexual assault including attempted rape of a one-year-old child, possession of indecent images of children and another of animal pornography. With so many question and accusations levied at the band, as to how they could have been unknowing about their lead singer's sexual proclivities, what remained of the Lost Prophets released a statement. They stated "Many of you understandably want to know if we knew what Ian was doing. To be clear: We did not."

Lostprophets, the Welsh rock band whose former singer Ian Watkins was sentenced to 35 years in prison for child sex offences in 2013, have reformed as No Devotion, a new act fronted by Geoff Rickly.

Lee Gaze, Stuart Richardson, Mike Lewis, Luke Johnson and Jamie Oliver took a six month hiatus following Watkins' trial and conviction, though have now recruited former Thursday singer Rickly as the new frontman.

Guitarist Lee Gaze, rhythm guitarist Mike Lewis, keyboardist Jamie Oliver, drummer Luke Johnson and bassist Stuart Richardson are reportedly working with Geoff Rickly, the ex-frontman of US rock band Thursday, to return to the music business.

Ian Watkins, the paedophile former singer of Lostprophets, has been sentenced to 35 years in prison after admitting a string of sex offences involving children including the attempted rape of a baby. Two women (apparently named by Peaches Geldof on Twitter), known only as Woman A and Woman B - the mothers of the abused - were sentenced to 14 and 17 years respectively.
