Habitually crusty crab, Lou Reed, has cast his musician's ear over Kanye West's new Yeezus album and (drum roll) he enjoyed it! Yes indeed Reed, the bane of interviewers worldwide, has actually said some rather nice things about a fellow artist's new work over on The Talkhouse website.

Reed: Chilling With His Peacock-Pooch.

Well, he did it in a very Lou Reed-y way, describing West's new beats as "the same old sh*t" but was hyperbolic in his praise: "But the guy really, really, really is talented. He's really trying to raise the bar. No one's near doing what he's doing, it's not even on the same planet." He suggests that West deliberately added provocative features to the album to induce critics' scorn and "challenge" his fans question their loyalty: "why he starts the album off with that typical synth buzzsaw sound is beyond me, but what a sound it is, all gussied up and processed. I can't figure out why he would do that. It's like farting. It's another dare - I dare you to like this. Very perverse."

The 71 year-old rock musician isn't afraid to hold back punches however, calling West out for his tendency to rap about the sexually explicit, saying disapprovingly "many lyrics seem like the same old b.s.he thinks that getting head from nuns and eating Asian p*ssy with sweet and sour sauce is funny, and it might be, to a 14-year-old," whilst acknowledging a disparity between "what [West] says and what he does."

An album that is full of "supreme beauty and greatness," whilst being "majestic and inspiring" - 'Perfect Day' rock legend Lou has blessed the "spectacular" Yeezus and He Saw That It Was Good. However, let's not forget Reed was released from hospital after suffering with severe dehydration on the day before the review was posted (1st July). Perhaps the drugs have gone to his head? Quick - make the most of it!

Yeezus was released on 18th June and shot straight to No.1 in the UK and USA.
