Louis Tomlinson delivered an emotional performance on the ‘X Factor’, Saturday night, just three days after his mother Johannah Deakin tragically passed away.

The 24-year-old was joined by DJ Steve Aoki, to perform collaboration ‘Just Hold On’, the One Direction star’s first solo single.

After the performance Simon Cowell, who mentored Louis and One Direction, said: "What you've just done, and the bravery. I respect you as an artist and I respect you as a person.

“Your mum was so proud of you Louis; she was so looking forward to tonight. She’s watching down on you now and you've done her proud.”

After the performance, Louis thanked his fans for their support over the last few days. “That was harder than I ever imagined,” he tweeted.

"I want to thank everyone around me and all of the amazing fans out there that made that so special! Feeling so much love around me and my family . Mum would have been so f**king proud ( sorry for swearing mum ) love you!"

Following Johannah’s sudden passing, Louis’ One Direction bandmates took to Twitter to offer their condolences.

Niall Horan wrote: "Very sad news . Louis I love you mate and I'm / all of us are here for you all the way. You're mum was an incredible person . Thinking of you and your family love from my family to yours..”

Liam Payne added: "Louis, I'm so sorry for you my brother my heart aches for you, just know I love you from a million miles away as I do right next to you…"
