The One Direction star hit headlines on Thursday (29Oct15) when editors of Britain's The Sun newspaper reported the singer had been kicked out of the Malmaison hotel in Newcastle, England following the band's gig in the city on Tuesday night (27Oct15).

The report suggested Louis was removed from the building for being drunk and rowdy, and was forced to sleep in the band's tour bus, but the rumours have now been thrown into question by pictures which appear to show Louis leaving the hotel looking sober and happy.

An onlooker tells Yahoo.com that Louis had gone to the Malmaison to drop off his sister and a friend, and then left on his own to go back to another hotel where he was staying.

"Louis definitely didn't go back to that hotel," the onlooker reveals. "We met him (outside the Malmaison) at 3.45am, he dropped (his sister) Lottie and her friend off and then came back out just as happy at 4am. He was totally fine, happy, and calm, also not as drunk as it says in the article. He then left in a van."

Bosses at the hotel have refused to comment on the reports.

In the pictures, which have been published on Twitter.com, Louis appears to be shown walking out of the hotel and getting into a car, while another shows him smiling and hugging a group of fans.

One Direction performed at Newcastle's Metro Radio Arena on Tuesday night as part of the final stretch of their On The Road Again tour, which concludes in Sheffield, England on 31 October (15).

They will then release their new album, Made in the AM, in November (15) and play a handful of final shows before disbanding for a hiatus early next year (16).

Louis recently revealed the four singers are planning to head off on a vacation together at the start of the break: "There's no doubt we'll see plenty of each other, we're gonna plan to go on a little lads' holiday. Actually it's just the day to day things (I'll miss), we are like a family now, so it's the company that you're used to, it's like leaving school and leaving your friends behind."
