The legendary songstress recently discussed her worries over the lack of progression of women's rights in recent years.
Only days after International Women's Day was celebrated on March 8th, Madonna has voiced her concerns about today's stand on women's rights and how gender equality seems to have lacked progression in recent years.
Madonna is currently promoting her latest studio album 'Rebel Heart'
While promoting her latest studio album 'Rebel Heart,' the iconic singer told Out magazine "gay rights are way more advanced than women's rights...People are a lot more open-minded to the gay community than they are to women, period."
Madonna does admit that society wasn't always like this, but in the past several years she feels women have lost their rightful position. "It's moved along for the gay community, for the African-American community, but women are still just trading on their ass," she argued. "To me, the last great frontier is women."

When asked to clarify her remarks, she said, "Women are still the most marginalized group. They're still the group that people won't let change...You must fit into this box: You must behave this way, dress this way."
Madonna, however, has never been a conformist and she still receives a rather large amount of criticism for her racy outfits and performances at the age of 56. "You're still categorized," she said. "You're still either a virgin or a whore. If you're a certain age, you're not allowed to express your sexuality, be single, or date younger men."

Funnily enough, when Madge was on the dating scene shortly after moving to New York City, she revealed to Out that her target audience was usually gay men. "I didn't feel like straight men understood me. They just wanted to have sex with me," she explained. "Gay men understood me, and I felt comfortable around them. There was only that one problem, which is that they didn't want to have sex with me! So...conundrum!"
