Singer/actress Mandy Moore jetted to Washington, D.C. last week (begs11Jun12) to urge Congress to focus on finding a solution to the world's unsafe drinking water problem.
Moore, who is an ambassador of child survival organisation Population Services International, arrived at the capitol on Monday (11Jun12) to attend the inaugural Usaid Frontiers in Development Forum.
The following day (12Jun12), she co-hosted a briefing called The Ripple Effect of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene on Global Health and Development, where she shared her experiences of meeting poverty-stricken people in Sudan who have fallen seriously ill from contaminated drinking water.
The Crush hitmaker told the crowd, "One out of six lacks safe drinking water."
During the three-day event, Moore also met with world leaders and government officials to stress the importance of taking swift action.
