Singer/actress Mandy Moore showed off her charitable side on Monday (19Sep11) by hosting an event for an anti-malaria organisation in New York.
The pop star stepped on stage to oversee the United Nations' Roll Back Malaria reception, which attracted more than 400 guests including heads of state, royalty and singers Youssou N'Dour and Yvonne Chaka Chaka.
Officials at the event, which marked 10 years in the fight against malaria, announced there has been a 40 per cent fall in cases of the disease, but Moore insists it is important to keep up fundraising efforts.
She says, "I think now is a really critical time to continue the momentum that this movement has garnered in the last 10 years in order to meet that millennium development goal by 2015. It's important to continue to raise awareness and to continue to raise funds and to not stop now because so much headway has been made."
