Nicollette Sheridan Denied Appeal Over Desperate Housewives Sacking

Nicollette Sheridan MARC CHERRY

Nicollette Sheridan has been denied an appeal over her sacking from ABC's Desperate Housewives, meaning the case it now all but dead. The California Supreme Court issued the brief ruling on Friday (November 16, 2012), with the court's chief justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye writing, "The petition for review is denied. The request for an order requesting depublication of the opinion is denied," according to the Hollywood Reporter.

It's a killer blow to Sheridan, whose two-and-a-half-year legal saga has concerned her acrimonious exit from Desperate Housewives. She first sued ABC Studios and show creator MARC CHERRY for $20 million in April 2010, claiming she was fired from the show after complaining about being hit in the head by Cherry during an argument on-set. Earlier this year, a jury failed to reach a verdict in the high profile trial. Sheridan initially asked for a rehearing and was denied, and has now had the same word back from the state Supreme Court. It's likely that the case will be referred back to the court of appeal, which will direct the trial court to allow Sheridan to proceed with a claim that her exit from Desperate Housewives violates the state's labor code. ABC lawyer Adam Levin declined to comment the latest ruling.

Since her departure from the show, Sheridan has appeared in a couple of television moves, as well as the comedy Jewtopia with Jennifer Love Hewitt and Peter Stormare.

Eva Longoria Giggles And Avoids Mark Sanchez Questions At Alma Awards

Eva Longoria Mark Sanchez MARC CHERRY Christina Aguilera Jake Gyllenhaal Nicole Richie Robert Rodriguez

A giggling Eva Longoria Parker managed to avoid questions about her private life at the 2012 Alma Awards. According to Latino Fox News, the Desperate Housewives star managed to side-step any questions about her blossoming romance with Mark Sanchez. Eva Longoria has recently been pictured stepping out with yet another toyboy; the New York Jets quarterback, Sanchez. And in the scorching 92 degree heat at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, Longoria managed to keep her cool in the face of some tough questioning.

There was no Eva Longoria boyfriend in sight but when she was asked “how did you meet Mark Sanchez and what did you find attractive about him?” she simply “giggled coyly and walked away from the press line.” She may not have answered any questions about her personal life, but Eva’s career has been going from strength to strength, since the end of the long-running Desperate Housewives series. She has already produced the movie ‘The Harvest' and will soon be directing, too. Longoria will be acting as executive producer of new show ‘Devious Maids’ alongside MARC CHERRY and will also be directing a few of the episodes, as well.

Eva was the co-host and producer of the Alma Awards and was particularly enthused about the award that was being given to Christina Aguilera. “Christina does a lot of work philanthropically so we wanted to honor that, she’s awesome,” said Eva, before Aguilera was given her Special Achievement Award that evening. The event was also attended by Jake Gyllenhaal, Nicole Richie and Robert Rodriguez.

Desperate Housewives: Season One Review

Excellent
It is telling that two of the principle cast-members of Desperate Housewives - Doug Savant and Marcia Cross - were residents of Melrose Place before moving to the now famous home of housewives desperate, Wisteria Lane. Both locales share a propensity for the hysterical and seem popular public launderettes for those with dirty, dirty laundry. Like the twentysomethings that shared their beds in Melrose, the housewives -- divorced, depressed, and desperate -- are a creatively troubled group and their many mishaps make for meaty viewing.

To some, it would be blasphemous to compare Marc Cherry's Desperate Housewives to the enjoyable but undeniably schlocky Melrose, but this I do freely and with confidence. For in my role as critical investigator, here of a series that has been doggedly examined, praised and awarded, I feel it necessary to uncover a home truth worthy of Susan, Bree, Lynette, and Gabrielle: Desperate Housewives is a phenomenal soap opera, but little more. This is not meant in any way as derision, merely clarification. Desperate Housewives has become an industry, something greater than a mere television series. But the zeppelin began as a balloon, and in watching the series en masse as the DVD format demands, one realizes the clever intrigue of writer Cherry's creation and the various actresses' characterizations, but fails to see perhaps why the Housewives industry has become so inflated.
