Director Marc Webb has assured fans Andrew Garfield is the right guy to play SPIDER-MAN - insisting cinema-goers will "love" the British actor's portrayal of Peter Parker.
The Other Boleyn Girl star has been announced as the replacement for Tobey Maguire, who played the web-spinning superhero in three movies before quitting the franchise earlier this year (10).
Garfield, who was born in the U.S. and raised in Britain, saw off competition from Jamie Bell and Josh Hutcherson to land the coveted part.
And (500) Days of Summer filmmaker Webb, who will step behind the camera for the next installment, is adamant studio bosses haven't made a mistake by casting the relative unknown.
He says, "Though his name may be new to many, those who know this young actor's work understand his extraordinary talents.
"He has a rare combination of intelligence, wit and humanity. Mark my words, you will love Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker."
