The Diary Of A Teenage Girl Trailer

Minnie Goetze is a bright and bubbly teenage girl just beginning to experience certain changes within herself. The speed of these changes lead her to record a diary on a cassette tape, detailing her altering life and sense of self after losing her virginity to her mother's dashingly handsome new boyfriend Monroe Rutherford. This feeling of burgeoning adulthood and an obsession with this older man provokes artistic revelations within her, as her passion for drawing develops. This new romance begins a definite sexual awakening, dooming Minnie's mind to nothing but thoughts about boys and sex. Meanwhile, her self-absorbed mother remains naive to Minnie's inner changes, as much as she believes that Minnie is going through something, but can't fathom that they're to do with relationships.

Knights of Badassdom Trailer

Three geeky best friends named Hung, Eric and Joe set out on an adventure of a lifetime to engage in some sword and sorcery style role play. They join a vast group of other LARPers (Live Action Role Players) in a woodland area they name the Fields of Evermore to carry out their dungeons and dragons-esque quest, but when one of them decides to practise a dark spell from an old book, they find themselves facing a genuine paranormal threat. He unwittingly manages to summon a flesh-eating succubus from hell who sets out on a murderous rampage to pick off each role player one by one. Not knowledgeable of demonic menaces of the real kind, the friends must band together to work out how to send the succubus back to its fiery inferno - before it's too late.

Hung, Eric and Joe are best friends totally into sword and sorcery style role play and re-enactment. However, when they set out on an average sword-battling adventure with their fellow LARPers (Live Action Role Players) in some nearby woodland, a mysterious force overtakes the group and they find themselves facing a genuine paranormal threat when an 'imaginary' spell from an old book somehow conjures up a real murderous hell demon who begins to pick off players one by one. Unprepared for threats of this nature, the friends must band together to work out how to destroy demon, while trying to remain alive in the scariest action role play they'll ever experience.

For Ellen Review

Good

One of those mopey independent dramas that drifts through a mere hint of a plot, this film is worth a look for its unusual setting and a superb central performance from Paul Dano (last seen in Looper). Filmmaker Kim focusses so closely on him that everything else on screen kind of fades into the background, turning the movie into a deeply personal odyssey. Although there isn't much more to it than that.

Dano plays an aimless rocker named Joby, who travels to a snowy town to settle his divorce from Claire (Levieva). She's so angry with him that she won't even see him for the sake of their young daughter Ellen (Mandigo), preferring to talk through lawyers. And since she knows Joby is deeply in debt, she makes a cruel offer: he can have half the value of their marital home if he signs over sole custody of Ellen, whom he barely knows anyway. But this isn't an easy decision, and Joby can only get so much help from his inexperienced lawyer (Heder). As part of the negotiations, Joby gets to spend two hours with his daughter. And then he has to make up his mind.

Dano is superb as the hapless Joby, who finds it so difficult to concentrate on his life that he's about to be thrown out of his own band. As a result, his life seems to be one mess after another, leading to this key moment when he needs to snap to attention. So it's especially intriguing that we can feel the internal pull toward his daughter: he wants to be a good dad, but is terrified of doing something wrong. And the film finds a lively counterpoint in Heder's comically clueless lawyer, another grown man who is painfully ill-equipped to face the real world.

Mickey Haller might not be one of the top lawyers in LA but the service he provides for his clients is an effective one. Generally Mickey defends bike gangs, prostitutes and drug dealers but when he learns of a case that might just give him a huge break, it's something he can't turn down.
