Maria Shriver, the former NBC journalist, was not wearing her wedding ring while attending the graduation of her nephew on Saturday (7th May 2011). Maria Shriver recently announced that she was separating from her actor-turned-governor husband Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The couple announced their separation yesterday (9th May 2011), but CBS correspondent Ben Tracy confirmed that Shriver had taken off her wedding ring while attending a family celebration at the weekend. He went on to note that the couple were still "all smiles" at the event. The pair had been living at their Los Angeles home during Schwarzenegger's two-terms in office, with the Hollywood actor commuting to Sacramento via jet. The Wrap.com editor in chief Sharon Waxman said, "They have been leading rather separate lives... What has emerged is Maria has chosen to leave their Brentwood home". Yesterday, the couple issued a joint statement that read, "This has been a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us... We ask for compassion and respect from the media and the public".
Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzengger met at a charity tennis competition in 1997. The couple married in 1986 and have four children together, including the author Katherine Schwarzenegger. There is currently no word on whether the couple are planning to divorce.
