Mariah Carey is celebrating after her 1994 Christmas single 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' finally reaches the grand mark of 1 million sales in the UK.

Joining the likes of Wham!'s 'Last Christmas', Slade's 'Merry Xmas Everybody' and Band Aid's 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' among many other festive hits, Mariah Carey biggest selling single has officially become a national favourite, two decades after it first appeared in the charts. The song currently sits at number 12 on the official Top 100 UK Singles Chart according to OfficialCharts.com.

Mariah told the website in a statement: 'I just landed back in the US after performing a charity show in Africa for the Red Cross and I'm driving home looking at the snow in my hometown of NYC, celebrating selling 1 million copies of 'All I Want for Christmas is You' in the UK. Thank you, thank you to all of my British fans! Love, Mariah.'

'All I Want For Christmas Is You' appeared on Mariah's first Christmas album entitled simply 'Merry Christmas' on which also appeared several covers. She unveiled a second yuletide album in 2010, 'Merry Christmas II You', releasing singles 'Oh Santa!' and 'When Christmas Comes' featuring John Legend.

She is the biggest selling female artist ever having sold 220 million records all over the world. Still going strong, she will unleash her fourteenth album 'The Art of Letting Go' in 2014.
