Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon Living Apart - Is Divorce On The Cards?

There is most definitely "trouble in paradise" with reports suggesting Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey, one of the seemingly most together couples in music (until last week), are heading for divorce.

America's Got Talent presenter Nick Cannon confirmed in an interview on Thursday (21st August) that he and 44-year-old Carey have been living apart for some time. Speaking to Yahoo, 33-year-old Cannon said "There is trouble in paradise. We have been living in separate houses for a few months."

It is thought, according to the same entertainment website, that the couple separated in May of this year. At the time Cannon denied divorce rumours to numerous media outlets. However, since his revelation on Thursday, sources are suggesting the couple may be heading for divorce. TMZ's sources are claiming the divorce is a "done deal" whilst InTouch reports family members have already started weighing in on the couple's relationship and alleged divorce.

Cannon's father, James, posted on Facebook and requested fans and the media avoid speculating about the nature of his son's relationship. He wrote, as InTouch reports, "Their business is their business and their relationship is between them and God."

The couple have been married since April 2008. They met on the set of Carey's 'Bye Bye' video which she was filming in the Caribbean and enjoyed something of a whirlwind romance. In 2010 Carey gave birth to twins, a girl named Marilyn and a son named Moroccan Scott.

Cannon was keen to emphasise how important his children's welfare was at this difficult time. In the interview, Cannon said "My main focus is my kids." Carey's publicist also stated that whilst she couldn't discuss Carey's personal life, "Mariah is focusing on her children and her upcoming tour."

The couple have been married since 2008 and have two children together.
