Ryan Seacrest, speaking to NBC’s Today Show, dampened the rumours that Mariah Carey and Nicky Minaj were embattled in a ‘diva-off’ whilst they both perform judging roles on American Idol.

“There are not too many dull moments between the two of them,” Seacrest explained, “but at the end of the day, we all hug and laugh and go home and get ready for another day. They get along fine, but they're strong and candid in their opinion." The reported trouble has allegedly stemmed from the fact that both Carey and Minaj want to be centre of attention, as they interrupted each other, disagreed and generally painted a picture of discontent on last week’s Idol, but according to Seacrest, the pair get along fine. “Mariah and Nicki might never be best friends, but they can work together,” a source close to the talent said. “If Nicki can work with Madonna, she can work with Mariah.”

“Mariah is old-school, where everything starts and ends with the voice,” another source close to production told The Huffington Post. “Nicki is looking for talent that catches her eye. She is far more interested in the whole package rather than just the ability to sing.” Fox might be secretly hoping that the so-called vendetta continues, as nothing spells high ratings than two of the biggest women in music disagreeing on live television.
