Mariah Carey has stated once and for all that there’s no real beef between her and Jennifer Lopez. The two multitalented artists have been rumoured to be feuding ever since the early 2000s, when Carey was asked about Lopez by a reporter and responded, "I don't know her.”

Mariah CareyMariah Carey has spoken about rumours of a feud with J-Lo.

Appearing on 'Watch What Happens Live', Andy Cohen asked Carey about her infamous J-Lo comments. "That was so long ago," she said. "I can't believe people still make such a big deal out of it."

Carey then explained that yes of course she does know who Lopez is, she just doesn't know her personally. ”Apparently, I am forgetful," she continued, adding that she doesn't remember a time when they were introduced.

"If I had never had a conversation with you and someone asked me about you, I'd be like, 'I don't know him, but he seems cool' or 'I don't know him’.” When asked by Cohen if Lopez ‘seemed cool’, Carey then repeated, “I don’t know her. What am I suppose to say?”

"The question was about Beyoncé and I was saying I think she's super talented. She's a friend of mine. She's always been sweet to me. She's always been very cool and then they asked me another question [about Lopez]," she continued.

“And I was just like I don’t really know her. It wasn't like I don't know who she is—of course I do. That's not the question.” Back in 2014 when Lopez appeared on ‘WWHL’, she also addressed the long-standing feud rumours.

"I know from back in the day, I've read things that she's said about me that were not the greatest, but we have never met,” she said at the time. “Like, we don't know each other. I think it's kind of from word of mouth of things that have happened in the past that I'm not really aware of.”

"I would love to meet her and I would love to be friends with her...I think she's incredibly talented and I've always been a fan of hers. 'My All' is one of my favorite songs of all time. I just love her. It saddens me to hear anything that's negative because I'm a fan of hers."
