Stars including Mariah Carey, Susan Boyle, Jessica Simpson and Kylie Minogue helped New Yorkers mark the start of the holiday season by performing at the famous tree lighting ceremony at the Rockefeller Centre on Tuesday (30Nov10).
Carey kicked off the Christmas show with a rendition of Oh Santa, while Minogue sang Santa Baby for the delighted crowds, who gathered in the streets of the Big Apple to watch the illumination.
Simpson and Boyle also took to the stage to sing festive songs, while other performers at the event included Sheryl Crow, Boyz II Men, Annie Lennox, Josh Groban and classical star Katherine Jenkins.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg hit the button to switch on 30,000 energy-efficient bulbs which will light the tree until early January (11).
