The pair stormed the charts with the song following its release last year (14), and it has placed them among the contenders for the top trophies at the upcoming prizegiving.

They have scored nods for Song of The Year, Video of The Year, Best Dance Performance and Best Collaboration, as well as The Ashford & Simpson Songwriters Award.

Another main contender is The Weeknd, who also scored five nominations and will do battle with Mark and Bruno for several awards including Song of The Year for his track Earned It.

Others songs in the category include Rihanna's B**ch Better Have My Money, Glory by Common and John Legend, and Classic Man byJidenna featuring Roman GianArthur.

The Weeknd is also among the nominees in the Album of The Year category for Beauty Behind the Madness, and he will be pitched against troubled singer Chris Brown with X, D'Angelo and The Vanguard's Black Messiah, Woman by Jill Scott, and Tyrese's Black Rose.

Chris scored four nominations along with Beyonce, who also landed four including a nod for Best R&B/Soul Female Artist.

She will compete for the title with Janelle Monae, Janet Jackson, Jill Scott and Tamar Braxton.

The awards will be handed out during a ceremony at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas in early November (15) and the show will air in the U.S. on 29 November (15).
