The 46-year-old actor appeared on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live alongside Keira Knightley in order to promote their movie Begin Again. WWHL host Andy Cohen asked Ruffalo about Garner and their friendship which appeared to bloom following the 2004 romantic comedy. Of Garner Ruffalo said "We had a great time together and I think we would then Ben came on the scene and that was the end of that."

Although there was nothing romantic about Garner and Ruffalo's friendship, as People reports, Cohen joked that he had "heard he [Affleck] doesn't allow her to have male friends," adding "I made that up".  However, Ruffalo said he was not able to confirm or deny the fictional rumour.

Both Ruffalo and Garner are happily married. Ruffalo married his wife actress Sunrise Coigney in 2000 and they have three children together. Whilst 42-year-old Garner married Affleck in 2005, after a year together, and they have three children.

Cohen also joked about how much he and Ruffalo resemble one another. He devised a game in which Knightley was asked to decide which select body parts belonged to which person. It was certainly hard and there is a striking resemblance between the two which Ruffalo even claimed his wife comments on frequently!

Begin Again, the film Ruffalo and Knightley are promoting, is another romantic comedy which follows a recently single songwriter Gretta (Knightley) and Dan (Ruffalo), an out of work record label executive, as they team up to record an album on the streets of New York.

Begin Again is out in US cinemas and released in UK cinemas on 11th July.
