No joke! All that's missing is a sunset for them to gallop into.
A new promo poster has been released for the fantasy action sequel Transformers: Age of Extinction, showing lead autobot Optimus Prime riding bareback on a robotic T-Rex whilst brandishing a huge sword. Fans at the Super Bowl were treated to a trailer first-look but the new shot sees excitement at a peak ahead of the movie's rapidly approaching July release.
Dinosaurs + Robots: Can This Ever End Well For Bay's Franchise?
The new film will see Lone Survivor's Mark Wahlberg take on a central role alongside Kelsey Grammer's lead villain, as well as Stanley Tucci, Nicola Peltz, Sophia Myles and T.J Millers. Wahlberg plays a mechanic who, with his daughter (Peltz) makes a discovery that brings the Autobots and Decepticons down on them.
The movie is the first of Bay's franchise to feature the notorious Dinobots, one of which - Grimlock - seems to be featured in the new poster. The trailer shows plenty of dino battles, explosions and humans trying to work out where they fit into the space robot battles.
Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura told USA Today that the new instalment features familiar characters being "bigger and badder-ass than they have ever been." After previous sequels successively bombed with critics, it seems Bay and his team were keen to keep things fresh.
"Michael has always been conscientious about the need to keep topping 'the last one,'" the producer explained. "First, it was topping the animated Transformers television program; now we need to top our third movie." Bay agreed with his producer before likening Age of Extinction to "Batman with a new suit."
