Martin Freeman's acting career has been just as much an unpredictable a journey as his character Bilbo Baggins' Middle Earth quest in 'The Hobbit' series, but can you imagine his two most iconic roles joining together?

That's just what 'Saturday Night Live' did when the British actor took to guest hosting the show on Saturday (December 13th 2014). Before he stormed US film and TV with Peter Jackson's 'The Hobbit' and the FX series adaptation of the Coen brothers' 'Fargo', Martin Freeman was arguably best known for his likeable role as Tim Canterbury in Ricky Gervais' sitcom 'The Office'. So what happens when you put an ordinary office environment in Middle Earth?

'What have I been up to? I went on a quest. Saved Middle Earth', says a pointy-eared Freeman as Bilbo Baggins in one of 'SNL''s funniest ever sketches 'The Office: Middle Earth'. 'I became a bit of a hero. Did the noble thing and turned down loads of treasure. Yeah, so the brave hobbit Bilbo Baggins now works at a paper company.'

'The Office: Middle Earth' sees a number of Tolkien style beasts hard at work at their desks - including Legolas and Gollum. 'Gollum? I hate him', says Baggins matter-of-factly as the distressed creature struggles to find the One Ring (aka My Precious) during what appears to be a mean office prank. He eventually finds it embedded in a bowl of Jell-O in his desk drawer, and Bilbo is soon waylaid by his obnoxious, name-calling boss Gandalf - now, a very David Brent-esque character.
