Having just processed the latest True Detective season 2 plot rumors, we saw the show pick up the TCA award for Best Miniseries (Emmy rules don’t apply), while Matthew Mcconaughey walked away with the male acting gong. Scroll down for the full list of winners.

Matthew McConaughey True DetectiveMatthew McConaughey stars as Rust Cohle in True Detective

He beat out Bryan Cranston who polished of the role of a lifetime as Walter White in Breaking Bad’s fifth season. But McConaughey’s 8-episode stint as Rustin Cohle, the lone wanderer prone to existential mumblings, didn’t surprise anyone, such is the quality of writing on HBO’s hauntingly gothic miniseries.

Which brings us, and the rest of the TV-adoring public, right on to season two and what it may contain. We already know it’s taking a look at the “occult” history of the American transport system, and that ‘hard women’ will take the centre stage.

So we, we think we know Colin Farrell is starring – not the most popular decision, if it proves to be true. His character will be that of an officer working for the California Highway Patrol, according to multiple sources helping to keep the rumour mill turning. Suspended for the sexual exploitation of a young woman that he pulled over, Farrell’s character, like Rustin, will be dealing with his personal demons as well as anger management issues and drugs.

With nothing concrete on True Detective season 2, it’s left to ‘us websites’ to speculate until someone with something official to say…. Says something.
