Any excited fans that thought they were going to see a shirtless Matthew McConaughey in the upcoming 'Magic Mike' sequel will be extremely disappointed to learn the 45 year-old actor will not be reprising his role as a Tampa, Florida, strip club owner called Dallas.

On Wednesday (Sept 17th), the director of 'Magic Mike XXL' Gregory Jacobs gave an interview to IndieWire and confirmed that McConaughey will not be returning to the male stripper flick, but didn't give a reason for his absence. He only revealed that fans can expect the sequel to be "very different."

"It's road trip movie and put it this way, it's different enough that once you see it you'll understand why we made a sequel. No one will be accusing us of making the same movie twice," Gregory explained.

Filming began at the beginning of this month, and it's slated to hit theatres on July 1, 2015.

However, despite the Oscar-winner's departure, there are several other original cast members returning to sport a thong once again, including Matt Bomer (Ken), Joe Manganiello (Big Dick Richie), Kevin Nash (Tarzan) and the star Channing Tatum (Mike), who also co-wrote the film along with Reid Carolin.

Alex Pettyfer (Adam) and Adam Rodríguez (Tito) also played strippers in the original 'Magic Mike,' but it isn't clear if they will be reprising their roles. Jacobs is hiring new actors as well, however since their deals aren't finalized he chose not to reveal any names.
