Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau has taken to social media to challenge actor Matthew Perry to a “re-match”, after Perry recently revealed that used to beat up the politician during their school days.

The 47 year old former ‘Friends’ star grabbed headlines late last month when he revealed that he used to bully Trudeau and even fought him in the playground when he was only ten years old, as they both attended Rockcliffe Park Public School in Ottawa, Canada.

Trudeau used April Fool’s Day to unleash a tongue-in-cheek hitback at Perry, expressing his apparent keenness to “punch” the actor and challenging him to a duel.

“I've been giving it some thought, and you know what, who hasn't wanted to punch Chandler? How about a rematch @matthewperry?” he tweeted.

Perry, judging the tone of Trudeau’s jesting tweet correctly, demurred to his offer, saying that he wouldn’t want to face the Canadian army.

“Justin Trudeau I think I will pass at your request for a re-match kind sir (given that you currently have an army at your disposal),” he said.

Perry had admitted to bullying the now-leader of Canada in an interview on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ back in March.

“I have a story about him that I'm not proud of,” he said. “My friend Chris Murray, who was also in the fifth grade in Canada, reminded me that we actually beat up Justin Trudeau. We both beat him up.”

Asked why by the host, Perry replied that it was probably “pure jealousy… I think he was excelling in a sport. He was the only kid in school that we could beat up.”
