Maverick Sabre's debut album, Lonely Are The Brave, was released on February 6th 2012, through Mercury Records. From the album, the singer recorded a cover version of Sam Cooke's 1963 hit, A Change Is Gonna Come. Maverick is embarking on a ten day UK tour in March 2012.
This live version of 'A Change Is Gonna Come' was shot at Angel Studios in black and white and sees the singer performing accompanied by a piano.
Speaking about the track, Sabre said: 'Because I think it's a timeless record and it stands for something and has a timeless message, and I think the current situation and the current world we're living in needs a song like that back in circulation. Music has always been about speaking for people, speaking for culture, speaking for time and specifically youth and I think we need to bring that message back in through music.'
Maverick was born in London and raised in Ireland. He was also raised on his father's favourite artists, which included Chuck Berry and Bob Dylan. The latter singer songwriter in particular encouraged Maverick; real name Michael Stafford, to explore social issues in his tracks.
2011 was Maverick's year; his first singles - Let Me Go; I Need and No One - have been successful critically and commercially. He has been championed by the likes of Fearne Cotton; Huw Stephens; Mistajam and Zane Lowe. Maverick has also worked with some big names, such as Professor Green; Chase and Status and Cee-Lo Green.
