Well, it was only a matter of time, wasn’t it? Having embarked on a hugely profitable arena tour earlier this year, McBusted have unveiled their first single in their own right, called ‘Air Guitar’.

McBusted have announced the existence of a debut single under their own name, 'Air Guitar'

It’s a pretty straightforward play to the gallery, a fun but forgettable pop-rock romp that gives fans exactly what they’d expect. Nice perky melody, though, we have to say.

Speaking about the song’s creation, Tom Fletcher said “I was like, ‘how has this song never been written before?' [Matt Willis] then brought the bones of the song to the rest of the band, who instantly leapt upon it. As Matt says, it's such a brilliant idea for a song.”

No plans for an album have been announced as yet, but if there is one in the pipeline it’s now unlikely to be seen this side of Christmas. ‘Air Guitar’, however, will be released on November 23rd and is available for pre-order now.

McBusted consist of various members of two of Britain’s most successful chart acts of the noughties, McFly and Busted, usually renowned for churning out lightweight, fluffy pop-punk to appeal to the tween market. The scale of the success of their 35 date arena tour earlier this year, which racked up over 350,000 ticket sales, took many by surprise. The tour was capped off by a spectacular show in London’s Hyde Park in front of 60,000 fans. The power of nostalgia is not to be underestimated.

The supergroup is made up of James Bourne and Matt Willis of Busted and Harry Judd, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Tom Fletcher of McFly.
