It has been quite a year of challenges for Meghan Trainor who, apart from trading her famous curves for a svelte physique, has joined the likes of Khaled and Diddy on the judging panel of a new singing show entitled 'The Four: Battle for Stardom'.

The 22-year-old 'All About That Bass' singer has been rather quiet this past year, but that doesn't mean she hasn't been working hard. She's just been selected as a judge for Sean Combs' new talent contest 'The Four' after her boyfriend Daryl Sabara encouraged her to chase her dream.

'We got emotional', she told ET. 'It was a long talk and I was like, 'It's a dream of mine to do this, to be a judge on one of these shows, and to help a new artist.' And he was like, 'I didn't know it was a dream of yours. Let's do it! I'm 100 perfect in,' and that was the talk we had a couple nights ago.'

The show, hosted by Fergie, sees four singers selected from an audition process who are tasked with defending their seats against other popstar wannabes who are fighting to take their place in the competition. They are judged by Trainor, Sean 'Diddy' Combs, DJ Khaled and music mogul Charlie Walk, with the winner becoming named an iHeartMedia On the Verge artist and even - rumour has it - getting to tour alongside Meghan Trainor herself.

'I can't tell what I'm gonna be, because I've never really done this', she confessed. 'But I think I'll be very honest, and I think I'll cry every episode.'

After the year she's had, we'll bet she's ready for anything. She appears to have lost a lot of weight since her last public appearances, and she credits her partner with helping her get on the right track health-wise.

'I work out so hard', she said. 'I've been working on my health [with] my boyfriend and, yeah, we eat good and we work out, like, every day.'
