Mel B has expressed an interest in returning to be a judge on ‘The X Factor’ now that three vacancies have opened up on the panel, following Rita Ora’s recent departure.

The former Spice Girl, 40, was a judge on the ITV singing competition for just one season back in 2014, but in the wake of massive changes to the show over the last few months that have seen Ora, Nick Grimshaw and long-time judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini all depart as well as co-hosts Caroline Flack and Olly Murs, many are tipping her for a return.

“I’d always love to be part of ‘The X Factor’, it was a great show,” she said during her appearance on ‘Lorraine’ on Wednesday morning (May 11th). “Is there a space? This happens every year, it’s always up in the air.”

Although the show’s chief Simon Cowell is the only person currently left on the panel, Mel dismissed the notion that he’d somehow lost control of the situation. “He’s not daft, he knows what he’s doing.”

Other former judges in the shape of Sharon Osbourne and Nicole Scherzinger have also been floated as possible names to return to the panel when ‘The X Factor’ returns in September – though nothing has been officially commented on yet.

In other news, Mel also insisted that talks regarding a possible Spice Girls 20th anniversary reunion were still happening, despite last week’s news that Mel C had joined Victoria Beckham in turning down the opportunity.

“We definitely want to do something because it's a celebration of us still doing our thing 20 years on and us being a part of each other. So we'll see what happens. We're all just kind of in talks right now. I had a nice cup of tea with Geri and Emma last night, which was lovely. I have such fun memories of all that stuff. We were doing a big time reminisce. It's nice that we're all still friends and we're supportive of each other twenty years on.”

She also addressed the potentially seriously amazing rumours that Adele has offered her services as a stand-in Spice Girl if required. “Oh Adele, that would be good! I love her! We all love her!”
