"Overrated" actress Meryl Streep has become the only actor to earn 20 Oscar nominations after her latest Academy nod for Best Actress in Florence Foster Jenkins. The star was attacked by Donald Trump after she gave a speech that lambasted the President at the Golden Globes.

The all-time winner of most Academy Award nominations was described as "overrated" by her President who tweeted that she was a "Hillary flunky who lost big".

Trump said the three-time Oscar winner and eight-time Golden Globe winner was "one of the most overrated actresses in Hollywood".

Unfortunately, his choice of words has come back to haunt him now Streep has reached the top of the Oscar award nomination list.

The Mamma Mia actress told an audience at the Golden Globes that of all the performances she saw in 2016 the one that disturbed her the most was when she saw Trump mock a disabled reporter.

Of the incident, she said: "It kind of broke my heart when I saw it and I still can’t get it out of my head because it wasn’t in a movie.

"It was real life."

For her 20th nomination, Streep sits in the Best Actress category aside Ruth Negga for Loving, Isabelle Huppert for Elle, Natalie Portman for Jackie and Emma Stone for La La Land.
